Healthcare Facility Transitioning

The process of moving into a new healthcare facility requires a carefully sequenced transition. From personnel preparedness to occupancy planning to move management, RTKL's transitioning team can manage the entire process. These experienced clinicians will create a master schedule of activities and coordinate implementation, so the new hospital can open on time and function efficiently.

Featured Projects
Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend
RTKL transition consultants are providing a full range of transition services—from occupancy planning to personnel preparedness to move management—for Peace Health Oregon Region. SHMC is a full service, trauma-certified hospital that will relocate to a 1 million square foot new facility in Aug 2008. The health system anticipates moving 150-200 patients and 30 percent of their existing equipment into the new Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
RiverBend Pavilion
Currently under construction and scheduled to open in summer 2008, RiverBend Pavilion is a five-story medical building that primarily will house offices and exam rooms for Peace Health Medical Group physicians. RTKL is providing facility transitioning services for this one-stop center for outpatient medical care.
University of California, Davis, Medical Center
In collaboration with UC Davis, RTKL transitioning consultants are developing a transition plan, a move management plan, and an occupancy plan for a new Surgical and Emergency Services Pavilion scheduled to open in 2010. The 470,000 SF facility will include not only a new emergency room and operating rooms, but also cardiology services, radiology services, and intensive care units including a 12-bed burn unit.
Methodist Mansfield Medical Center
When Methodist Health System in Dallas asked RTKL to design its first new hospital in twenty years, they also asked the RTKL transitioning team to help with personnel preparedness. A facility design orientation to the 312,000 SF hospital helped prepare staff to function optimally from opening day in the technologically advanced facility that features patient-centric design and hospitality-style amenities.

“Move planning is a monumental undertaking, especially when replacement facilities are involved. To occupy today's high-tech hospitals, providers should begin planning at least 18 months in advance. RTKL's transition experts offer the experience needed to ensure no detail is overlooked.”
